Did we not say just yesterday that Sony would find some way of responding to Microsoft’s recent sales uplift success story? Well, guess what…
360 sales have been skyrocketing since the price cuts and the company has just reported its best November ever, with year-on-year 360 sales up 124% across Europe. Meanwhile Chart Track data reveals that PS3 sales have only increased by 3% during the same timeframe. Fairly conclusive, you would have thought. Continue reading »

You wait years for a new Metal Gear to come along, Konami finally graces us with one and then, relatively promptly, starts tantalising us with the notion of a brand new game.

Good old Sony. Undisputed leaders of the pack last generation but, having tripped up on their laurels, forever playing catch up this time around. First Wiimote-style motion sensitive controls are ineffectually implemented, then rumble is bolted to the Sixaxis pad and, most recently, we have the Trophy system which - obviously - is in no way inspired by the Xbox 360’s popular Achievements. Ahem…
The Trophy system has been a slow-starter since it launched this summer, with just a handful of publishers adding or retro fitting it to their offerings - Bioshock, Drake’s Fortune and Burnout Paradise being three of the highest profile adopters. That said, momentum is certainly gathering and the option for publishers to choose whether to add Trophies or not as they see fit is officially over as of 2009. ps3-trophies-mandatory-in-2009.html#more-14295″ class=”more-link”>Continue reading »
