As part of Satoru Iwata’s keynote speech at GDC, it was revealed that Square Enix is releasing a sequel to Final Fantasy IV on WiiWare.
Final Fantasy IV: The After Years continues the story that began in Final Fantasy IV (a remake of which was released on DS last year).
The game was made available as a Japanese mobile phone game last year, and since then it’s been downloaded three million times and praised for its fantastic and deep storyline.
The After Years focuses mainly on Ceodore, the son of Cecil and Rosa from FFIV. As well as Ceodore, a load of familiar faces from the original cast feature in their own additional tales.
As you can see by the screenshot, it’s looking pretty nice and should provide some great old-school Final Fantasy gameplay to WiiWare.
