Xbox 360 Europe: 7 million sold, and counting… Wii Games quickest into the bargain bucket

Charts: World War 2

It’s a second week at the top for Call of Duty: World at War. That’s no surprise seeing as it’s incontrovertibly *ace*. More surprising is the fact that it has held its own against some pretty serious contenders - including a game we thought would be a shoo-in for the Xmas number one…

That’s Need for Speed: Undercover in case you hadn’t guessed, and it looks like the wheels might be wobbling off EA’s long-running street racer franchise. This latest iteration recorded the lowest first week sales for a next-gen NFS title and it managed only a fourth place on this week’s chart, being outpaced by a couple of aging stalwarts - Mario Kart Wii and FIFA 09, both up by 33% and 25% respectively.

But NFS: Undercover isn’t the only underachiever on this week’s chart. Check Lara’s latest at eight - heavily promoted but, as Chart Track statmongers note, only outselling last year’s Tomb Raider: Anniversary by 6,700 copies. It’s been a star on PS3, though, claiming 51% of sales compared to the Xbox 360‘s share of 34%. Call it a small revenge for GTAIV.

And on that minor bombshell here’s how the top ten looks for the week ending November 22. Ten-Hutt!:

1. Call of Duty: World at War (1)
2. FIFA 09 (5)
3. Mario Kart Wii (8)
4. Need for Speed: Undercover (NE)
5. Wii Fit (11)
6. Football Manager 09 (3)
7. Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 (9)
8. Tomb Raider: Underworld (NE)
9. Guitar Hero: World Tour (6)
10. Wii Music (14)
